Join us as we highlight four of the most innovative kinetic structures that change before your eyes.   ## One Ocean, South Korea ![Kinetic Architecture: Dynamic Buildings That Will Move You](https://cdn.modlar.com/news/212/img/s_713_x/kinetic_architecture_dynamic_buildings_that_move_you_597439b741d68.jpg "Kinetic Architecture: Dynamic Buildings That Will Move You") *One Ocean Thematic Pavilion EXPO 2012, designed by soma*   *Kinetic Facade Operation of One Ocean*   Emerging as the frontrunner of an open international design competition in 2009, [One Ocean](https://www.modlar.com/search/photos/query/One%20Ocean,%20Thematic%20Pavilion%20EXPO%202012%26view=1) is the collaborative product of the Austrian architectural office of [soma](https://www.modlar.com/search/photos/query/Soma%26view=1) and the innovative Knippers Helbig Advanced Engineering. Morphing biology with architecture, the undulating wavy lines of the [kinetic facade](https://www.modlar.com/search/photos/query/kinetic%20facade%26view=1) resembles The Living Ocean and Coast at Yeosu, South Korea. The natural translation of [sustainability](https://www.modlar.com/search/news/query/sustainable%26view=1) and [biomimicry](https://www.modlar.com/search/photos/query/biomimicry%26view=1) into the architectural project is not integrated on a visual medium, but deeply incorporated into the facade through the use of [glass fiber reinforced polymers](https://www.modlar.com/search/news/query/fiberglass%26view=1) (GFRP).   ## Q1 Headquarters, Germany![Kinetic Architecture: Dynamic Buildings That Will Move You](https://cdn.modlar.com/news/212/img/s_713_x/kinetic_architecture_dynamic_buildings_that_move_you_59743af643b1b.jpg "Kinetic Architecture: Dynamic Buildings That Will Move You") *Q1 Headquarters, designed by Chaix & Morel et Associes & JSWD Architekten*   *Kinetic Facade Operation of Q1 Headquarters*   With 400,000 stainless steel lamella [sunshades](https://www.modlar.com/search/products/query/sunshade%26view=1) attached to the Q1 Headquarter's [glazing system](https://www.modlar.com/news/184/glass-steel-ensemble-structural-glazing-facade-systems/), direct solar heat radiation and glare is reduced, thereby producing maximum efficiency of view and heat gain prevention. As it rises 50 meters from the focal point of the campus, [Q1 Headquarters](https://www.modlar.com/search/photos/query/Q1%26view=1) is not only a signature landmark with its diverse trapezoidal and triangular [louver](https://www.modlar.com/search/photos/query/louver%26view=1) system. Comprising of four main parts "the structure's fixed volume, the void, the fixed volume and the mobile volume," [Sharifi-Ha House](https://www.modlar.com/search/photos/query/sharifi%20ha%26view=1) is an exciting typology of a dynamic inside-outside form, as it caters functionally to the [climatic](https://www.modlar.com/search/news/query/climate%26view=1) conditions and its users' needs. Calculating the highest possible loading value, the turning mechanism of the boxes proved to be a major consideration in determining its irregular [structural system](https://www.modlar.com/search/news/query/structural%20system%26view=1).   ## SDU Campus Kolding, Denmark ![Kinetic Architecture: Dynamic Buildings That Will Move You](https://cdn.modlar.com/news/212/img/s_713_x/kinetic_architecture_dynamic_buildings_that_move_you_59743ddde0f96.jpg "Kinetic Architecture: Dynamic Buildings That Will Move You") *SDU Campus Kolding, designed by Henning Larsen Architects*   *Kinetic Facade Operation of SDU Campus Kolding*   Completed in 2014 by [Henning Larsen Architects](https://www.modlar.com/search/photos/query/Henning%20Larsen%20Architects%26view=1), the Denmark-based [SDU Campus Kolding](https://www.modlar.com/search/photos/query/kolding%26view=1) exemplifies a triangular-shaped building form with a five-leveled [atrium](https://www.modlar.com/search/photos/query/atrium%26view=1) on its core. In response to the varying climate conditions, the dynamic solar shading system of the facade is equipped with [sensors](https://www.modlar.com/search/products/query/sensor%26view=1) to monitor heat and light levels. To regulate accordingly, the 1,600 triangular perforated steel fins are mechanically controlled by a motor to optimize [daylight](https://www.modlar.com/search/products/query/daylight%26view=1) and indoor climate of the building. One of the 20th century's [classic](https://www.modlar.com/search/photos/query/classic%26view=1) architecture buildings, the 1987 [Arab World Institute](https://www.modlar.com/search/photos/query/arab%20world%20institute%26view=1) utilizes natural [light](https://www.modlar.com/search/products/query/light%26view=1) as its principal design catalyst, with the integration of a photo-sensitive facade.
